You are invited to attend the New Jersey Wing 2000
Summer GSAR School! For Seniors and Cadets
The Summer School has the
same course content as the Spring School, except that it is presented in a
single block of instruction instead of separate weekend components. As such,
more field work can be accomplished in the Summer School.
Upon
completing this course you will have basic proficiency in safety, search
procedures, rescue techniques, land navigation, survival, SAR team building,
lost person search, sign cutting, clue awareness and evidence handling,
criminal activity awareness, bloodborne pathogens awareness, perimeter control
and ELT direction finding.
The course is intellectually and
physically challenging. Graduates of this course will have met the classroom
and field training requirements for Civil Air Patrol Ground Team Member
qualification.
This school is recognized as a full New Jersey Wing
GSAR School, fulfilling the requirements for CAPR 50-15 classroom training
attachments 14 and experience Paragraph 2-5-l(2). This school is a prerequisite
for the NJW Advanced GSAR school. This school has been approved by CAP National
Headquarters as meeting the requirements for Ground Team Member training in the
National Emergency Services Curriculum Project.
The New Jersey Emergency Services Academy has the
most highly qualified NJ Wing CAP members in Emergency Services serving as
staff. The cadet and senior instructors have accumulated thousands hours of
search experience.
They have completed emergency services related
courses including the AFRCC Search and Rescue Seminar, Tom Brown Tracking
School, NJ Wing Advanced GSAR School, the National Search and Rescue School, US
Air Force Para Rescue Orientation Course, US Army Ranger School and US Air
Force Emergency Services ECI courses, etc.
Guest instructors with
specific areas of expertise from other agencies are also participating.
The school is open to CAP senior members who
completed Level I Training and cadets who attended Encampment and are Cadet
Senior Airman or higher. Cadet applicants over 15 years old may have these
requirements waived upon recommendation of the Squadron Commander.
CAP applicants must be General Emergency Services qualified and be in good
physical condition. Physical fitness tests are based on US Army requirements.
American Red Cross Standard First Aid is recommended, and required for Ground
Team Member qualification.
All participants must have a doctor's
certificate stating any limitations on activities.
No alcohol or recreational drugs permitted, no
smoking in facilities. Other school regulations will be mailed in the student
packet.
Transportation to and from NJW Emergency
Services Schools is the responsibility of each student. Maps and directions
will be provided.
Transportation between activities will be provided by
CAP vans.
McGuire AFB / Fort Dix is convenient to exit 7 on the New
Jersey Turnpike.
Send one Copy of CAPF-31 (no photograph
required) and check or money order to "NJW Civil Air Patrol ES Academy" for the
proper amount.
Applications must be in before 15 June 2001. Applications
received after the cut-off date will not be considered.
